Teacher Manual
The National Curriculum framework 2005 based on the principles of child- centered education linked with life situations, keeping the interest of the society at large, has paved the way for a more meaningful and purposeful education for the stakeholders- the students. Joyful learning aims at providing the learners multifarious activities that not only makes learning purposeful but also brings out the latent talents in our future citizens .
The need of the hour is therefore to adapt multiple teaching strategies to suit all class of learners. So it becomes imperative to empower teachers with improved skills and practices and provide them ideas in abundance. These can be accomplished through a well structured teaching manual for teachers which would serve as a ready reckoner.
An attempt in this direction was made in the form of preparation of teacher manual for all the subjects including computers for classes I-V. It is elaborate with well-defined activities and support materials that can be readily used to provide meaningful learning opportunities to students.
This project is the brainchild of Dr M Rajeswari , AC KVS Bangalore Region and was done under her direct supervision and able leadership .
Each lesson consists of :
1.a competency based lesson plan which has horizontally linked columns such as competency, ELO, activities, TLMs, E resources, integration and assessment.
2. support materials in the form of worksheets, activity sheets, flash cards, ppts, word cards, puzzles, videos, web links, images etc as per the plan of the lesson.
Codes have been provided for worksheets in the lesson plan. The same codes have been used in the support materials for easy decoding.
However the lesson plan and support material are only suggestive and teachers are hereby encouraged to modify, innovate and adapt as per the need of their students.
This ready reckoner will enable teachers to plan effective transactional strategies and make them competent to design many innovative strategies which may stem out in the course of such transactions.
Three preliminary meetings with select HMs and thereafter two workshops for PRTs were conducted to develop this manual. The material preparation team comprises of efficient and talented teachers who have tried out these methods in their classrooms. This manual has been painstakingly compiled over a period of 30 days , in the month of April 2015,by the teachers amidst their regular and busy schedule at school.
The list of HMs and the teachers who prepared the manual is as follows:
